Counsellor & Trauma-Informed Yoga Facilitator
Swati is a compassionate, client-centred counsellor with over six years of experience in therapeutic practice, complemented by a 16-year leadership career in multinational organisations. Her diverse professional journey brings depth, cultural intelligence, and a grounded, empathetic presence to her work.
Having lived in India, Singapore, and now Aotearoa New Zealand, Swati supports individuals navigating trauma, migration, identity, and life transitions. She offers individual counselling, group therapy, and experiences in conducting community-based programmes, creating a safe and inclusive space that is LGBTQIA+ affirming and respectful of Māori values.
Swati integrates a range of evidence-based and body-oriented approaches, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), EMDR, and mindfulness-based therapies. Her work is strongly informed by the polyvagal theory and somatic approaches, supporting clients to understand and regulate their nervous system, build safety in the body, and process trauma in a gentle, paced way. She also incorporates breathwork and pranayama to enhance emotional regulation and resilience.
Her areas of focus include anxiety, trauma and PTSD, family harm, grief and bereavement, work-related stress, anger management, and personal growth following life challenges.
Swati holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling Psychology and has experience delivering trauma-informed yoga programmes under ACC. She offers counselling in English, Hindi, and conversational Spanish.
