Jane Owens

Psychotherapist

Hello, I’m Jane. I work as a Registered Psychotherapist in Titirangi.

At the core of my work, I practise psychodynamic psychotherapy. This means we work together to build a safe, supportive therapeutic relationship, one we can draw on to explore the patterns that may be contributing to your current struggles. These patterns often come from past experiences, trauma or otherwise, and from longstanding ways of coping that continue to shape how you move through the world. At times, therapy may also offer space to grieve loss and find a sense of resolution and peace.

Because no two people are the same, I draw on a range of approaches where needed, including attachment theory, trauma-informed practice, neuroscience, mind-body work and DBT-informed skills, to help support greater emotional regulation and resilience.

I aim to create an environment where all are welcome and where different ways of thinking, experiencing and being in the world are respected. I have particular experience in:

  • Neurodiversity
  • Anxiety and depression
  • Grief and loss
  • Life transitions
  • Relationship and family challenges, including parenting and step-parenting
  • Identity and self-esteem
  • Sex and intimacy struggles
  • Spirituality
  • Sexual harm and intimate partner violence, including work with those who use harmful behaviours

In my experience of working with people, greater understanding of yourself, along with the space to work things through, often brings greater freedom, choice and self-acceptance. As these patterns become clearer, many people find themselves reconnecting with what matters most to them, living more fully in the present with integrity and experiencing a greater sense of meaning in their lives.

Whatever is bringing you to therapy, you are welcome here. I look forward to meeting you and walking alongside you as you develop greater understanding, choice and freedom in your life.
