Psychotherapist
Ataya Kanji is a Gujarati and tau iwi | new bones within Aotearoa | New Zealand psychotherapist, based in Tāmaki Makaurau | Auckland.
Therapy Services:
I seek to guide individuals through the intimate process of working through emotional pain and early relational trauma. This involves working with clients to expand relationship(s) with self and others – to cultivate a capacity for self-friendliness, emotional regulation and inner gentleness, and explore experiences of shame, guilt, self-doubt and self-criticism.
Therapy Approach:
Psychodynamically trained, my approach is influenced by theories of attachment, with attention to somatic and non-verbal expression, intergenerational trauma, cultural dynamics and parts-work. I am committed to discussions around cultural and ethnic identity, oppression, power and intersectionality.
